Tim Wendel's The New Face of Baseball (Rayo/HarperCollins) was recently named Top History Book for 2004 by the Latino Literary Awards. A SABR member since 2003, Wendel is an award-winning novelist, journalist and one of the founders of USA Today Baseball Weekly.

The book explores a largely untapped chapter in baseball history. Wendel weaves the stories of baseball's Latino athletes, exploring who they are and how they helped transform the sport into what it is today.
