John Thorn, 26 year SABR member, first SABR publication director, founder of The National Pastime, longtime collaborator on Total Baseball and author of many books and articles related to baseball, was named the 2006 recipient of SABRs highest honor, the Bob Davids Award.

John Thorn was named the recipient of the 2006 Bob Davids Award this afternoon at the SABR National Convention Award Banquet. Presenting the trophy to Thorn was last year's honoree, David Smith.


SABR (pronounced “Saber”) is an international organization headquartered in Cleveland, OH. The Society's mission is to foster the study of baseball, to assist in developing and maintaining the history of the game, to facilitate the dissemination of baseball research and to stimulate interest in baseball.
