In a "Keeping Score" column in The New York Times (Sunday, April 24, 2005), David Leonhardt examines Bill James' article "Underestimating the Fog" published in the most recent edition of The Baseball Research Journal (Volume 33, 2004). The Baseball Research Journal is one of two annual journals that all SABR members receive with their membership, the other is The National Pastime. In addition, all members whose dues are received before September 30 will receive two other publications, a collection of articles on Canadian baseball published in conjunction with SABR's annual convention in Toronto, August 4 to 7; and Deadball Stars of the American League, the follow-up to the well-received Deadball Stars of the National League. The 2004 edition of The Baseball Research Journal included several other articles, including a lavishly illustrated article on how to identify baseball photographs by sportscaster George Michael. Other articles of note looked at marathon games of 20 or more innings by Phil Lowry and a look back at Larry Ritter's work by David Lawrence Reed.
