Program:
* Current Kane County Cougar and Chicago-area native Dusty Napoleon will discuss his career to date and take your questions!
* Dennis Pajot of the Milwaukee SABR Chapter will discuss Abner Dalrymple of the famed Chicago White Stockings and his key role in Game Six of the 1886 World’s Championship Series against Charlie Comiskey’s St. Louis Browns.
* And Doak Ewing of Rare Sportsfilms, Inc. will show us some of the legendary baseball footage he has collected.

meets from 11:00am - 2:30pm in the Hank Aaron Room at Turner Field. note: this room has no internal heat. The room we usually use in February is not available this day. I will bring a portable heater, but you might want to dress warmly/bring a coat/sweater if the weather is cold.) Bring a bag lunch if you'd like. I'll bring the usual array of drinks/goodies....

Parking is free in the Green lot as usual. The Green lot is directly across the street (Abernathy Drive) from the main gate. Enter from Hank Aaron Drive or from Abernathy. We'll start gathering at the Braves Museum around 10:30. The Museum is to the far right of the stadium as you enter the main gate.

Program:
Brett Friedlander, author of "Chasing Moonlight: The True Story of Field of Dreams' Doc Graham" (a Casey Award finalist for best baseball book published in 2009) will join us to talk about the career of Moonlight Graham.
Wayne Marshall will give a talk on Ernie Shore.
New member (spring 2009) Amber Roessner (recipient of a SABR-Yoseloff Award in 2009)will present "Crafting Your Father's Idol: Baseball, Journalism and American Culture, 1900-1928"
Finally, we'll review plans for SABR40 and talk about volunteer needs.
Also, the SABR Board is meeting in Atlanta that weekend. I and a few other members are scheduled to attend the Board meeting that Saturday from 3:00-5:00pm. The Board meeting is open to all, so if anyone else would like to attend you are very welcome. The Board meeting is at the Sheraton Hotel on Courtland St.

02/20/2010 Seymour-Mills Chapter (Naples)
holds its book review meeting from 2pm to 4pm at Books-a-Million (9100 Strada Place, Naples (on Tamiami Trail N. near 91st St.).
At our meeting all participants will have the opportunity to discuss one or two baseball books of their choice in a small group setting or just to listen to other baseball fans talk about books they have read. The highlight of the meeting will be a review of "Chasing Baseball" by its author, Dorothy Seymour Mills, the well-known writer and member of our chapter who has written 25 books. Copies of Dorothy’s book will be available for purchase and signing at the meeting.
If you're not a member of SABR, you're still welcome to attend and see what we’re all about. Bring your favorite baseball book to talk about or just come to get some ideas about books like "Chasing Baseball" that you might want to read. 03/04/2010 Deadball Era Committee's
takes place March 4 to 7, 2010 at the Arlington Hotel in Hot Springs, Arkansas. Tentatively, we'll have events and research presentations on Friday the 5th and Saturday the 6th, with social activities on the evening of the 4th and/or morning of the 7th, as in the past.

Your training camp crew consists of R. J., Mike Dugan, Madison McEntire and Richard Smiley. We welcome any proposals you might have for research presentations or other activities having to do with the Deadball Era, spring training, or Arkansas baseball. Attendance is on a pass-the-hat basis; we will have a block of rooms available at the Arlington, though, for those of you who want to try it out. More details to come.

meets at Tamarac Public Library (Multi-Purpose Room), beginning at 12:00 (noon), we will have a keynote speaker, and presenters, bringing you all the best in hardball.
Leading off the festivities will be our keynote speaker, Turtle Thomas, Head Baseball Coach of the Florida International University Panthers. Thomas is in his third season with the Panthers, and has coached for many of the top-flight programs in college baseball including stops at; Arizona State, Clemson, Georgia Tech, Louisiana State and the University of Miami. Thomas is widely regarded as one of the premier recruiters in the country and is held in high-esteem by his fellow coaches in Division I baseball and beyond.
Presenters will be announced at a future date as soon as they have confirmed. Family and friends are welcome, and I encourage all of you to share with them your love of the grand old game. I look forward to seeing you there, and let’s PLAY BALL!

Roy Kerr will make a presentation on Slidin' Billy Hamilton. His book on Slidin' Billy, "The Life and Times of Baseball's First Great Leadoff Hitter" was recently published by McFarland.

meets under a picnic tent at McCoy Stadium in Pawtucket. The meeting will begin at 10:30 a.m. and end at 3:00 p.m. The Pawtucket Red Sox will play the Columbus Clippers starting at 6:05 p.m. (You can order tickets from the team's web site, Pawsox.com. That's the time of year when attendance approaches sellout status, so it's never too early to order tickets.) As usual, we will hear from team officials, including new manager Torey Lovullo, who spoke to us a couple of years ago when he was managing Buffalo. Other speakers are being lined up, and we'll let you know who they are.
