Mark your calendar for a Pee Wee Reese SABR Chapter meeting on Saturday, October 21, 2017, at 10:00 AM at the Louisville Slugger Museum and Factory, 800 W. Main St. in downtown Louisville, Kentucky.
The main speaker will be Dominic Latkovski of the Zooperstars and BirdZerk. He is the original Billy Bird of the Redbirds, and currently heads up the Skillville Group, the entertainment group that has performed in virtually every minor league ballpark in the USA. A finalist in America's Got Talent, Dominic will present some of the unique baseball stories that he's witnessed firsthand over the last 20 years.
A research presentation will also be made by Dr. Joe Baumstarck titled "Too Much Baseball? The Interaction Between Negro League, Major League and Minor League Baseball in Louisville." Dr. Baumstarck became interested in Negro League baseball in 2004. He began serious academic work on the history of the Negro Leagues in Louisville as he pursued an advanced degree at the University of Louisville under baseball authority Dr. Mary Hums.
Information about the history and benefits of SABR membership will be presented. Door prizes, including a one-year SABR membership to a current non-member will be offered.
This is the weekend prior to the start of the World Series, and the Cardinal and Wildcat football teams do not play at home that day.
More details later, all baseball fans are welcome to attend!
